Leading Victorian nursery Gilgai Farm had a huge result on Sunday afternoon at Inglis Premier when they sold a colt by Toronado (IRE) from Hardly Surprising for $1million to become the first seven figure yearling for his Swettenham Stud based sire.
A half-brother to metro winner The Swooper, the record setting colt for his sire is the fifth foal of Group III placed All Too Hard mare Hardly Surprising and was purchased by Andrew Williams Bloodstock / Hong Kong Bloodstock.

Cambridge trainer Tony Pike’s bid for a third Gr.1 New Zealand Derby (240m) title goes on the line at Ellerslie this weekend.
His Classic contenders Golden Century and Amazing Fluke have arrived at the fork in the road when the youthful stablemates again clash in the Gr.2 Eagle Technology Avondale Guineas (2100m).
Pike has previously won the Derby with Sherwood Forest (2020) and Rangipo (2016) and will know after the Guineas what firepower he will have at his disposal in his bid for a third success in the Blue Riband event.

In the lead up to the NZB Ready To Run Sale, Riversley Park’s Sam Beatson made no secret of the regard in which he held Lot 79, a son of Proisir (Choisir), and he was repaid for his faith in the youngster when Andrew Williams combined with Hong Kong Bloodstock to purchase the gelding for NZ$650,000.
Despite believing the two-year-old would be well found at the sale, Beatson admitted that both the price and the buyer took him slightly by surprise.

Perspiration has overcome a tardy start to score an upset win in the Listed Heritage Stakes at Rosehill.
Sent out an $11 chance in Saturday's 1100m race for three-year-olds which was reduced to just five runners after scratchings, Perspiration was slowly away and a few lengths off his rivals in the early stages before settling at the back of the small field.

He finished in the top two in every leg of this year’s Classic Series aboard California Spangle and Zac Purton is hoping a galloper who followed him across the line on all three occasions will be a horse worth sticking with this season.
Purton partners The Irishman in Sunday’s Class Two Swan Handicap (1,400m) and hopes the Francis Lui Kin-wai-trained five-year-old can go to another level in his second Hong Kong campaign.
“Sometimes with the four-year-olds, they weren’t quite up to it at the time, they hadn’t quite acclimatised, they were running nice races but always running third, fourth, fifth, but then they have that break, and they seem to develop more than the horses who were finishing in front of them,” Purton said.
“It’s happened to me before – Beauty Generation was in that category, so were Exultant and Military Attack. I’m not saying he’s in the league of those horses, but that’s what can happen.”

今朝(20日)沙田馬場舉行5組泥閘，當中不乏質新當起的勇馬。其中第1組1200米泥閘，上屆打吡季軍「發財先鋒」以及上年未失三甲嘅「美麗同享」都一齊試閘，當中東廐「美麗同享」出閘後雖然喺較後位置，但入直路後追勢甚強，最後追入一席第3名。潘頓試閘後指，「美麗同享」今日慢閘，出閘後早段唔太肯走，但入直路後卻交出應有追勢追趕對手，所以對於佢嘅表現都尚算滿意。
「美麗同享」現評117分，以其出色表現，當然有不少馬迷均期待此駒今年復出之戰，而潘頓於試閘後透露，「美麗同享」將會在10月16日1600米G2沙田錦標復出，其後就會跑11月6日1800米G3莎莎婦女銀袋，跑完呢兩場睇吓佢嘅 表現如何，再決定向1600米定2000米發展。

紐西蘭雅旺第馬場今日（八月十六日）有多組公開試閘，當中第七組閘由一匹Vancouver子嗣首名過終點，這匹三歲馬前速不俗，末段仍能保持良好走勢。此駒在周歲時由Hong Kong Bloodstock購入，現已做好基礎訓練，暫定於十一月抵港，屆時會加盟黎昭昇馬房。此駒母系為Gem of Gems，母線家族有Precious Gem曾於澳洲贏一級賽，值得留意。

on's A Pearla has run her last race in Australia after being sold to Hong Kong interests.
The Kevin Corstens-trained galloper will be transferred to David Hayes after a deal was finalised on Wednesday.
Fillies racing in Hong Kong is extremely rare, with Hayes also training another in the unraced Dragon Lady.
Bon's A Pearla won the Group 2 Tranquil Star and was a placegetter in the G1 Australian Guineas.
"It is with some regret the owners have agreed to sell Bons A Pearla to Hong Kong interests but the offer was too good to refuse," breeder and managing owner Ken King said.

「包裝」系馬主李文斌名下的賽駒Barretta昨日（三月三十一日）在澳洲百肯南馬場勝出，雖然僅以短距離取勝，但馬匹贏馬姿態非常驚人，且看將來有否機會看到此駒在港服役。這匹「澳大利亞」子嗣去年八月尾在愛爾蘭一出即勝千六米，昨天首度在澳上陣，角逐嫌短的千四米亦能克服不利場地及重磅大後上贏馬，表現非常出色。

「美麗同享」周日出戰第3場二班田草1600米，鞍上人繼續是潘頓，當日為呢匹5歲今季首度出爭田草1600米，將會在6檔起步，騎者今早表示，今仗跑法完全取決於牠出閘反應，因為牠有時起步會慢咗，佢都唔肯定隻馬可以守係咩位，而少馬場合抽6檔亦未必太理想，但如果到時形勢造就，則有機會勝出。
潘頓續說，「美麗同享」早前於沙田只跑1400米，但近期已經轉爭谷草一哩，因此今回角逐田草1600米，問題不會太大。此駒今季上陣4場，獲2冠1亞1季，上名率100%，2W都是在潘頓胯下取得。他說最欣賞牠每次陣上均能放鬆心情競跑，各方面都展現其最好一面給他及馬迷看。

上賽遇上極慢步速留後兜外圈撲近的沈廐馬「包裝風雲」，今晚第3場增程跑谷1800米，更換來雷神操刀，所以臨場熱到2.1倍，今場排4檔嘅「包裝風雲」執意走內欄，結果成棚馬出彎篩晒出去，佢就攝內檔長驅直進，走勢相當強勁，最終擊敗10倍馬「勁力威龍」及走外疊蝕位的「瑪神滿紛」，取下在港首勝。今晚已起孖升到83W嘅雷神，賽後見到佢雙手緊握豢頭，好有Heart、好滿意自己發揮，係喇馬迷就係要呢火喇！
